Army Pays Tribute to Slain Soldier | KNO

Srinagar, 29 Mar 2018 (KNO) : Army today paid befitting tribute to Late Nb Sub Hira Kant Jha who attained martyrdom while performing highway protection duties in Pulwama District.

In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Maj Gen SK Sharma, Chief of Staff, Chinar Corps and all ranks, paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation. Late Nb Sub Hira Kant Jha was part of a road clearance team and sustained injuries when a private truck veered off the road and collided with the Army vehicle coming from the opposite direction in Chackot area of Awantipora in Pulwama district on 26 Mar 2018. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital and had been in ICU since then. His medical condition deteriorated despite best efforts put up by the medical team and he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on 28 Mar 2018 afternoon.

The martyr, Nb Sub Hira Kant Jha, was 45 years old and had joined the Army in 1991. He belonged to Village Brahman Toli of Nowhatta Tehsil in Saharsa District, Bihar and is survived by his wife and two sons. The mortal remains of the martyr were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family of the martyr and remains committed to their dignity and well being.
